Monthly tickets for students on Riga public transport will now cost EUR 12
From 1 January 2024, students of higher education institutions, who are eligible for a fare reduction on Riga public transport, will get their monthly ticket cheaper than before. From now on, students will be able to buy a monthly ticket on their e-ticket for EUR 12.
From 1 January 2024, students will be able to buy a monthly ticket at the new price at all regular Rīgas satiksme ticket trade outlets.
If a student has a monthly ticket for EUR 15 on their e-ticket, they can continue to use it on any bus, trolleybus, or tram as before. However, if several monthly tickets have been purchased on the e-ticket, please note that they will only be valid for 60 days. If it is not possible to use these tickets within the time limit, unused monthly tickets can be returned to Rīgas satiksme within 12 months of purchase, with a 100% refund for the unused time.
The current regulation stipulates that the fare reduction on the public transport route network is 50% of the monthly subscription ticket price, or EUR 15, while from 1 January 2024, the discount applied by Riga City Council to students is set at 60%, i.e., EUR 12.
